There have been many questions asked by families and the community as we plan this new school. While some do not have answers yet, we are answering as many as we can! Here are the questions asked and answered so far.
What is the criteria for buses from home to school?
The district provides transportation only to those students living outside a one-mile radius, unless the district has reviewed walk routes and determined no safe walk route is available. Within that boundary, our practice allows for elementary students to walk up to one and a half miles to school. Students with walk distances that exceed these limits are eligible for bus service.
What is the school's capacity?
Our new school will have 30 classrooms for a total capacity of 690 students.
How do I register my student who isn't already enrolled in a LWSD school?
Kindergarten Registration begins on February 7th from 3:30-7:00 p.m. at Rosa Parks.
Registration for new students in any grade: Please go to your local elementary school to register your student or join us at the February 7th registration date. Any local LWSD school registrar will be able to help with paperwork and get your students enrolled at the new school. Please do this as soon as possible because enrollment numbers impact staffing.
Current LWSD students: No need to do any registration paperwork. Current students are automatically enrolled in the new school.
How do I sign up to receive updates about the school?
If you are in the attendance area for our school and are not already receiving emails from Principal Bilanko, please email email@example.com to receive the school newsletter.
Who are the 2nd Grade teachers?
Now that the school boundaries are set, we are in the process of selecting the remainder of our staff which will include 2nd grade teachers. We will announce staffing as we hire! Look for introduction videos!
